Artists' Statement
Kathy Killip and Tammany Devine , friends for more than 40 years, create fresh, innovative, designs for gift, home, holiday and tabletop. Using a variety of styles from classic, contemporary, whimsy, traditional to natural shows our design capabilities honed from 15 combined years at Hallmark Cards & as two of the three founding designers for Demdaco. They create expressions from the heart embracing nature, pattern, texture and color, to share virtues, spiritual bonds and a gentle sensitivity for life.
They enjoy creating beautiful gifts and color environments for living spaces by exploring natural beauty, surface design, color relationships, patterns in nature, botanical color and motifs.
Relying on their own sensitivities, they develop infinite possibilities to appeal to the retail buyer and the consumer. They refer to home, fashion and environmental trends as well as appreciate art from museums and historical references.
They believe that their “art” is a gift that they cherish everyday as they become inspired and fulfill their passion to create.
In 2008 Tammie and Kathy collaborated on a line for Demdaco called Silversong®. The angels for this line are an active Demdaco line in the market and have elements adapted from old antique silver decorative pieces. They have an Edwardian letter wrapped around their garment which incorporates design influences from the antique silver. Silversong® celebrates the wonder of nature in this whimsical line featuring angels, birds, butterflies and leaves. Subdued color accented by metallic embellishments gives the line a unique and fresh look. The angels messages include faith, love, hope, new life, circle of life, friendship, grace, thanks, caring, dream, courage, peace, joy and remembrance. Their colors are muted browns, blues, golds and greens found in nature.
In 2009 Tammie and Kathy collaborated on a line of woodland style angels named WoodInspirations for Trippies, an Ohio company. The angel designs for this line were inspired by old gray weathered wood and the sentiments of faith, hope, love, & joy. They are designed to be inspirational and have accompanying plaques and frames in the line.
